To clarify a new
decision made by the USGA with regards to
the use of range-finders, the JAGS Junior
Tour
WILL NOT
PERMIT THE USE OF RANGE FINDERS, OR ANY
OTHER DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES IN ANY JAGS
Junior Tour EVENT FOR THE 2007/2008 SEASON.
The decision is intended to be enforced as a
Local Rule (therefore, the decision to adopt
the local rule rests solely with the Tour,
Tournament, or Golf Course. Players should
confirm this information with each
Tour/Tournament they plan on competing
with).
To help clarify, the following was taken
directly from the USGA:
"Decision 14-3/.05 allows the committee to
permit the use of distance-measuring devices
by Local Rule. This applies to devices that
measure distance only, not any other
condition that might affect a player's play
(i.e. wind or gradient). In the absence of
such a local rule, the use of a
distance-measuring device remains contrary
to the Rules."
