2002 PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
KYLE WARREN AND AMANDA PENTECOST
HONORED AT JAGS AWARDS BANQUET

Los Alamitos, Calif., - JAGS held its annual Player’s Award Banquet on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the beautiful Cypress Golf Club in Los Alamitos, California.  JAGS recognized many players for their academic achievements and tournament accomplishments with top honors awarded to Kyle Warren, Los Alamitos, Calif., and Amanda Pentecost, Lakewood, Calif., as the 2002 JAGS Players of the Year. 

Kyle WarrenKyle Warren, a junior at Los Alamitos High School, Los Alamitos, Calif. won two boys titles, placed second three times and third once during the 2002 season.  He won at Los Serranos Golf Club, playing the south course in February with an even par 148 for two days and his second victory was at Brookside Golf Club (north) in July carding a 5-under 139 for the 36 hole event.  He was named Captain of the 2002 JAGS Boys Western All-Star Team and was awarded Silver Academic Honors for keeping his grade point average between 3.5-3.99 during the 2001-02 school year. 

Amanda PentecostAmanda Pentecost, a senior at Millikan High School, Long Beach, Calif., won two girls titles along with 1 second, 1 third and 2 fourth place finishes during the 2002 JAGS season.  Her championship titles were in March, 2002 at Recreation Park scoring 153 and again at San Dimas Canyon Golf Club in August posting a 154.  She was selected as the Captain of the 2002 JAGS Girls Western All-Star Team and was awarded Silver Academic Honors for maintaining a grade point average between 3.5-3.99 during the 2001-02 school year.   Congratulations Kyle and Amanda on your outstanding 2002 season! 

Software Design Group, Inc.Oakley, Inc. in Foothill Ranch, Calif. and Software Design Group, Inc. in Cypress, Calif. were honored as “Sponsors of the Year”  for their dedication and support of JAGS and junior golf.   Sue Pentecost was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” award for her endless hours of computer keyboarding, tournament assistant, tournament photographer and scrapbook designer.

2002 Western All Star Team – Nick Baratelle, Brian Cox, Peter Deltondo, Ryan Kirby, Meaghan Montoya, Jennifer Osborn, Amanda Pentecost (Captain), Jen Sanders, Garrett Sapp, Kyle Warren (Captain),  Honorable Mention: Andy Kim.  This team will compete against the Arizona Junior Golf All-Star Team in early 2003, in a team competition similar to the Ryder Cup format.
