KANNY AND LOPEZ FIRST ROUND LEAD CAPTURES JAGS TITLES AT THE
FLOODED ROSE BOWL JR. CLASSIC

Pasadena, Calif., Junior Amateur Golf Scholars (JAGS) conducted its 5^th Annual Rose Bowl Junior Classic on the E. O. Nay course at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena, Calif.  This classic course built in 1948 always provides a challenge for 40 players due to its small quick and undulating greens and narrow fairways. Adverse weather conditions (4 inches of rain) forced cancellation of round two and day one results determined the winners.

Zack Kanny of Ventura, Calif., battled the windy cold conditions and the threat of rain to finish with a two shot edge over Alex Kang of Oak Park, Calif., who placed 2^nd.  Kanny eagled the tough 16^th hole to finish with a two-over (72) to win his first JAGS tournament.  Kanny said,  “I enjoy playing under difficult conditions and am sorry we did not get to play today, but it is great to be the champion.”    Josh Perez of Villa Park, Calif.,  finished 3^rd , Matthew Stratton of Littleton, Colorado, Christopher John G. Ancheta of Lancaster, Calif., and Alex Park from Mission Viejo, Calif., finished tied for 4^th.  Brett Blazys of San Dimas, Calif., was 7^th while Ryan Boyker of Long Beach, Calif., Kevin Bunn from Torrance, Calif., and Jon Berger of Mammoth Calif., tied for 8^th.

In the Girls flight, Lee Lopez of Whittier, Calif., battled to a 3 shot victory over Kristin Ingram of Pasadena, who placed second while Veronica Valerio of Temecula, Calif., and Lucy McGovern of Escondido, Calif., tied for 3^rd.  Devon Brown of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., took 5^th , Danielle Kang of Oak Park, Calif., placed 6^th.  Sunkyung (Keaton) Kim from Buena Park, Calif., and Tori Leon of Los Angels, Calif., tied for 7^th.  Ninth place went to Marianne Galligan-Oltmann of Los Angeles, Calif., and Clair McGovern, Escondido, Calif., finished 10^th.

 JAGS January two day tournament will be held at Shandin Hills Golf Course, in San Bernardino, January 16 & 17.  Players need not be members of JAGS to participate, although member’s tournament fees are lower.  Membership and tournament information can be found at www.jagstour.com.  On February 20 & 21, 2005 JAGS returns to Los Serranos (South Course).  This tournament is ranked by Golfweek and AJGA performance points will go to the winners.
